Neglect, furbabies and awards!

Hi everyone,

Sorry it's been a while.....I've been ill, been helping hubby paint the outside of our house (between rain showers!) and getting ready for school - the countdown begins!

Sadly, I've been missing school - I love routine!  Can't wait to see the kids again and get a new school year started!

Have been feeling very sad about my precious Holly.  The vet feels that she won't make another winter and we've had to buy a special collar for our young boy Blue to wear when the time comes....I had no idea that such things existed!  Apparently it will help keep him calm.  They are so very attached to one another, I can't imagine how hard it's going to be!

We decided on no holidays this year as we didn't want her to go into kennels.  She's almost 17, with lots of wee niggles, but has kept relatively healthy.  I hope we will know when the time is right to intervene and help her along if we have to.  She's been my constant companion for 15 years now and I just can't imagine life without her.....apologies for the sad share, it's on my mind a lot!

I have been neglectful of thanking lots of people for awards, but hope to make amends now.  I think I am up to date with messages and thanks.  It's been slow building followers and I am very thankful to everyone who stops by to say hi and the kindness of people when they recognise you for an award.

I want to say a huge thank you to:

Stacey from a Ray of Kindergarten Sunshine for the Versatile Blogger Award.

Ashley from Inspire, Dream and Create for the Liebster Blog Award.

Mercedes from Surfing to Success - I don't know what the award is and I can't find the post it was so long ago - I feel awful about that!

Thank you so much to you all for thinking of me for these lovely awards!

Here are the rules for the Liebster Blog Award:

1. Copy and paste this award to your blog - done!
2. Thank the giver and link back to them - done!
3. Reveal 5 other bloggers and let them know by commenting on their blog - trying to do!

The Liebster Blog Award recognises blogs with under 200 followers, so I will update this post as I come across blogs that fulfil this criteria.

I do hope to have a giveaway soon.  My facebook page is just shy of 300 followers, so I have to get thinking!  My TpT store has reached the heady heights of 6 followers and 20 products!  I so wish I had more time - I'm becoming quite addicted!  A couple of days ago, I was so excited when I had 5 sales in one day!  The opportunites for TpT are endless and I am so happy to be part of it!

Lastly, I just had to share this pic with you!  I was browsing ebay and came across a little company that customises wooden signs - I just couldn't resist!  This will be going up on my door as soon as I can get in to school.  It's actually a lovely blue colour but my photography skills aren't great!

Wishing everyone a fabulous start back to school - let the fun begin!

  1. Wendy,
I had a similar situation with my dog, Twinky. My husband gave her to me before were married, and she lived to be 17 1/2. Her heart was strong, but the rest of her gave out. Believe me when I say I know how you feel. She was like our first child.

That being said, I wanted to thank you for offering to participate in my giveaway and let you know I have joined your blog. I would love for you to stop by mine and pick up some freebies from my new freebies tab!

    1. Aw, love that name! It must have been really hard for you. It's the same with Holly - the vet said her heart and lungs are good, but she can hardly see and can't hear now and has terrible problems with arthritis. She also has a tumor in her mouth and she's too old to operate on. She gets meds every day, she eats and drinks and still wants to play when she has the energy, so I do think it's not quite her time, but every day, she looks a little more weary and struggles to walk. I so want to make the right decision at the right time. I would hate to think that we might prolong any suffering. This is going to be so hard and I'm dreading it all....she's my baby!

On a lighter note, I love your freebie page and made some downloads last night - I love it when others want to share - the blogging world is a great place! Thank you so much for joining my little blog!

  2. I found your blog through the TpT forums and became your newest follower! I looked through your pictures and I love the view you have from your classroom. I also LOVE your pictures of Ireland. What a beautiful place to live...I'm very jealous! :)

I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. We had my childhood dog put down a few years ago and it was so hard. Her entire body had given out on her and she was miserable, but we still miss her.

Good luck with your new school year! Your blog is so cute. :)

  3. I am so very sorry to hear about Holly. I have three fur babies myself, and my youngest one is also named Holly. I really understand what you are feeling because these dogs really are my babies. I can only hope I have my babies as long as you've had Holly in your family.

Maybe you can take some comfort in knowing how blessed you are to have each other. Maybe you can also take comfort in knowing that when her time does come, you will be by her side. I wish I had the right words to take the pain away and comfort you. I will keep you, your hubby, Holly and Blue in my prayers.

    1. What lovely sentiments - thank you so much! I am so grateful for the precious time I've had with her and have so many wonderful memories. She came into my life at what was personally a very difficult time for me and I can barely write this without welling up - they're both lying at my feet right now! I find it so hard to watch this happening to her and pray that I know the right time if she needs my help. Aargh - I think I better stop now, but it really helps when others understand how difficult it is, so thank you....
