Personal Stuff/Giveaway/Freebie!

Well this is my very first post in a long time!  I've always wanted to keep my blog personal as well as professional, because I find it cathartic to write things down.
I've debated this for a while and decided not to go into detail.  However, the last couple of months have been very difficult and I haven't felt much like posting.  I have lost someone very dear to me and it has left me feeling a bit low, hence the lack of posts.  I seem to have lost my motivation and am stuck in a bit of a funk!
However, I'm trying very hard to change that around.  A dear and kind blogger friend has just sent me the sweetest email, which made me feel at peace, so I decided to take the plunge back into my blog.
I apologise to all my bloggy friends for being out of the loop for a while and appreciate that you have stuck by me and not removed your friendship from my poor neglected blog!
Some updates:  my first grade classroom is enjoying some fabulous additions and I don't mean soft, cuddly fur babies of any kind!  These things are made of sterner stuff and just make my teaching day so much easier!
I have acquired one of these:
How lucky am I??  No, not a desk lamp, but a document camera!  I've wanted one for ages and can highly recommend it.  I'm using it constantly and the kids are appreciative.  (My Overhead Projector has been consigned forever to the great big storeroom in the sky!)  I use it for readalouds so everyone can see the text and pictures.  It's also great to demonstrate the use of manipulatives especially for Maths lessons.
I was also lucky to acquire one of these for my personal use, but I have it fully-loaded with educational apps for my students to use.
I feel so blessed to be in a very well-resourced school, given that rural Ireland tends to be a bit behind!  I'm just sad that my Smartboard doesn't function as well as it used to - 10 years old this year!  I think I would love a Promethean Board, but I may have to do some major begging!
Now, are you feeling lucky?  I wanted to share a huge giveaway with you!
MrsMc from 'Buzz Buzz Buzz' A First Grade Blog is having giveaway as she has reached a few milestones - close to finishing, so go enter now!  There are 75 products to be won - amazing!  Just click on the pic to be transported!
Now to the freebie!  A bit of an experiment and not great really, but I thought you could use some things from it, hence the reason it's free!  I love creating digital papers, borders and frames, but I am a total amateur.  I decided to put out a set of Valentine clipart, but I admit it is a bit basic!  I'm sharing however in case you find a few wee images you could use!

Just click the pic and you will be taken straight to the product in my TpT Store.
Anyhow, it feels great to be back!  Have a great week ahead everyone!

  1. I enjoyed reading your post, Wendy. I'm so sorry for your loss, but so, so happy to hear from you again. You are going to love that camera! I used mine ALL the time with my Promethean board

    1. Hi Richi! Aw, thank you for your lovely words! It's been hard this last while, but I'm determined to get back on form and have been slowly catching up on everything - I have so much to be grateful for and love the support from our wonderful blogging community! I'm using the camera everyday and we all love it!

      Wendy :)

  2. Welcome back Wendy, very sorry to hear about you losing someone but so glad you are trying to turn it around.
I love using my document camera to show answer sheets for the students to correct each others work, saved me a ton of time and really made them think about their presentation of work when other students would complain they couldn't read their writing.
Glad to have you back on board.

    1. Thank you so much, Tania - I really do appreciate your kind words!

What a brilliant idea for using the document camera - can't wait to try it - will save a ton of time - thanks for the idea!

      Wendy :)

  3. I am so happy to see you back, my friend! You know you are always in my thoughts.

The document camera has totally changed the way I teach and has made so many things a lot easier. That huge overhead projector seems so obsolete now, doesn't it? I also love it for showing samples of student work. Now when a student wants to share his/her work, we put it under the camera so we can all see it.

Enjoy your new goodies and again, welcome back!

    1. Hi Peanut!

Another great idea for using the document camera - I bugged my Principal for so long - she finally gave in - lol!

Thanks so much for your kind words - it really helps to know people care....

      Wendy :)

All messages are heartily welcomed!
